Tucker has served numerous local SCFL clubs and says he can't wait for the new challenge back at the helm of the division-two high flyers.

He told us: "It's great to be back again at a wonderful club at a start of a new beginning for Rustington FC and I hope I can support them on this exciting journey ahead."

Tucker has bossed Rustington twice before and has also managed Wick twice, Barnham, Pagham and East Preston.

"The only thing that matters at the moment is that everybody following the government guidelines and stay safe, then once out of this crazy times we can enjoy the football, socialising again together. That’s all that matters at the moment," said Tucker.

His appointment is one of two big moves by the club - they have also appointed Gareth Davies as chairman.

He is aware, though, that football takes a back seat in these crisis-hit times for the nation. Rustington were fourth in SCFL division two when football was suspended and they'll be out to have another serious go at the title next season.

Davies said: "Jon loves the club, has bought into our vision and long-term plan and we are excited to have secured his services, he's a hugely popular figure here and we are all looking forward to the journey ahead."

Gibson will work closely with the first team management as we look to progress our young players into the first team set-up and again Davies is delighted to welcome him to the club, saying: "Matt will play a pivotal role in our long-term plans for the club and we hope to develop young players that can go on to represent the club for years to come, it's an exciting project for us all and a real step forward for the club."
