Robbie Blake was happy with Bognor's efforts in their 3-0 friendly win at Horndean - and said the club were on progress to have a competitive squad in place for the start of the Isthmian League season on September 19.

Trialists Jason Parish and Will Stone were on target either side of an Ashton Leigh rocket as a Rocks squad containing plenty of new faces won comfortably at the Five Heads Park home of Michael Birmingham's Wessex League team.

Afterwards Blake gave an in-depth verdict - although the second half of his interview was in total darkness with Horndean a bit hasty to turn off the lights.

Blake did have words for those in the dark over whether the Rocks will sign Joe Cook and Jake Flannigan - and expressed sympathy for trialist Siph Mldalose, formerly of Southampton and Salisbury, who ruptured his Achilles and ended the evening in hospital.
