The 25-year-old defensive midfielder has joined for an undisclosed fee and Seagulls boss Chris Hughton said: “Oliver is another excellent addition to our squad.

“He has a good grounding coming from Manchester United, and has a wealth of experience playing in the Championship and at international level.

“He’s a box-to-box midfielder and an excellent passer of the ball, so he gives us extra options in midfield and adds further depth to our squad.”

Norwood began his career at Manchester United, and following loan spells with Carlisle, Scunthorpe and Coventry, he moved to Huddersfield in the summer of 2012 on a free transfer.

He went on to make 90 appearances for the Terriers, scoring nine times, before signing for Reading in August 2014. He has played 92 times for the Royals, finding the net five times.

Norwood follows Steve Sidwell and Glenn Murray in signing for Albion this summer but Tottenham midfielder Alex Pritchard looks set to join Norwich, after Brighton had a bid accepted for the 23-year-old earlier this week.
