Keavy keen to make the switch to Brighton & Hove Albion

AN 11-year-old girl from Lavant has been selected to join Brighton & Hove Albion's girls' Centre of Excellence.

Having successfully completed an intensive round of trials, Keavy Price, a pupil at Midhurst Rother College, is joining the under-13 squad.

The Brighton CoE is one of only 30 centres nationwide to be awarded an FA licence for 2011-12.

Providing training opportunities to girls aged eight to 16, the centre has teams at under-11, under-13, under-15 and under-17 level competing in the London and south east Centre of Excellence fixture programme, which involves Chelsea, Arsenal, Millwall and Norwich.

Keavy first started playing football only in 2009, initially for Chichester-based Whyke United before moving on to Chelsea’s Centre of Excellence. “We were really excited when Keavy was selected for Brighton,” said delighted father Paul. “She’s really looking forward to the new challenge.”

Keavy was invited to the new Amex Stadium in Brighton for a tour of the facilities before she joined her new team-mates.
