Last chance for free girls' football coaching in Chichester

A new initiative aimed at getting more girls playing football in Chichester has hit the ground running.

The weather was kind for the first session of the Chichester Female Football Development Centre’s Saturday Club at Chichester College.

Coach Lizzy Thoms said: “It was a massive success with lots of girls attending, more than we expected.

“We split the girls into two groups - one being six to eight years, the other nine-11 years. We had two senior coaches working with both the age groups, putting on a fun session for the girls.

“We were all very impressed with the enthusiam the girls showed and also some of the standards they were playing at too. We finished the session with a fun penalty shootout inovling all the players with coach Jade Widdowson in goal, which was very funny.”

You can get a second week’s free session at the centre by cutting out and taking along the exclusive voucher in the Observer this week (May 17 edition).
