CHICHESTER CITY won 4-1 at Wick in the Southern Combination premier thanks to four first-half goals in 28 minutes.

Seven minutes in, the ball fell to Josh Clack on the left and he beat his man and struck a sweet shot which eluded the keeper to give Chi an early lead.

Two minutes later, Clack put a low cross into the box which found its way to Jimmy Wild, who nodded it into the bottom corner.

Wick created an opportunity in the 15th minute when a free-kick was whipped in from the left and Andy Chick was fastest to react with a header, but it was expertly saved by Jack Fagan in goal.

Chichester dominated after that and soon had their third as Dan Boyle made a late run in the box to get on the end of a through ball which he controlled and slotted past the keeper.

The game’s first big talking point came in the 32nd minute. Kieran Hartley was through on goal but was brought down by Eyres on the edge of the box. Despite Eyres being the last man, he received a yellow card, not a red.

Boyle soon got his second when he got his foot on the end of a Hartley cross.

As the second half began, Wick & Barnham got one back as Dan Towers rose highest at a corner to head home.

The second period was much more even but in the 64th minute Fagan, quickly becoming a key player for City, produced another top-class save, this time from an Anderton shot.

City visit Horsham on Saturday.

CITY: Fagan, Buckland, Edwards, Boyle, French, Atkinson, (Boulton), Clack, Case, Wild (Bush), Kendall (Smith), Hartley. Subs not used: Bingham, Pearce.

* Two goals by Jimmy Wild could not precent City slipping out of the Sussex Senior Cup on Wednesday night - they lost 4-2 at Mile Oak.

* Pagham slipped to seventh in the Southern Combination premier with a 3-2 defeat at Littlehampton. They host Horsham YMCA on Saturday.
