Worthing Rebels 3 Bognor Allstars 5

OUTSTANDING – that’s the only word you can use to describe the Allstars in their season opener.

New signings Ryan Spray, Keiran Miller Soliell and Callum Slater proved their worth in what was always going to be a tough start.

Rebels opened the scoring in the 30th minute when a clearance was deflected into the path of a forward who fired home from close range.

Allstars got their reward for neat football when Liam Morley – last season’s leading scorer – finished a great move to level.

The Allstars led when Samuel Howard finished another fine move.

Howard got his second when he followed in a shot by Charlie Osborne which the keeper spilled.

Rebels got back into it when a pass by Taylor Floyd hit the on-rushing forward and went over the line.

Allstars restored the two-goal advantage when a great cross saw Howard ghost in at the far post to nod home – but Rebels replied with a corner that was scrambled home at the near post.

With ten minutes to go Micheal Canavan played a lovely weighted pass to Slater, who sidefooted into the bottom corner.

The coaches said this was undoubtedly the best football Allstars had played in the past three years.

Men of the match were Spray and Howard.

Felpham Colts 1 Chichester City Colts 2

Colts gavc debuts to Toby Evans and Liam Craddock and were straight out of traps. But on five minutes, Felpham took the lead with an impressive strike from20 yards out, leaving Sam Williams rooted to the spot.

On 15 minutes, Colts were given a free-kick on the right touchline. Up stepped Evans who delivered a cross that saw centre-half Taylor Rochester outjump his marker to plant a bullet header into the top corner.

Five minutes later, an inch-perfect pass by the impressive Sam Jones gave Colts talisman Taylor Parker the simple task of sliding the ball under the advancing keeper to give Colts the lead.

Just before half time, Felpham were denied an equaliser by a fantastic save by Williams.

The second half was entertaining but without any clear-cut chances.

Bognor upped their game in the second half but Rustington scored against the run of play. Bradley Stroud pulled a goal back for Bognor with a fine free-kick with ten minutes to go. Soon, Jack Tilbury scored with a smart finish to make it 2-2.

A strong run from Stroud and a great finish made it 3-2 to Bognor with a minute to go.

Chichester Colts 2 Predators Youth 2

This was a first game for these lads on a three-quarter-size pitch and playing to offside rules, but both teams coped very well.

Chi pressed, but against the run of play Predators took the lead with a well-taken goal. It wasn’t long before it was two, although Chi went close on a number of occasions.

Colts battled back with a well-taken goal from Joe Middleton just before half-time. In the second half Chi kept up the pressure but Predators were good on the counter-attack, which brought some fine saves from the Chi keeper.

With minutes to go, Ben Roberts, who had a great match, went on an individual run to score a cracking equaliser. Both teams knew they had been in a game.
