There’s been precious little youth football in recent weeks because of the wet weather, but we have the action that did take place.
If your kids’ team are lucky enough to beat the rain, send a report and team picture to firstname.lastname@example.org
Bognor Regis Town Youth 7 Rustington Otters 1
Bognor started their Challenge Cup semi-final brightly, Woody Gilbert-Jones opening the scoring with a great goal.
A second from the same player was followed by the third from Bradley Stroud with a powerful shot, leaving the keeper with no chance.
Dawid Kitowski scored the fourth before Rustington replied with a penalty to make the score 4-1 at half-time.
Gilbert-Jones completed his hat-trick after a fine cross by Ben Taylor. Two further goals for Bognor came from Gilbert-Jones and Taylor.
It was a great team performance by all and Bognor have now reached the final for the third consecutive year. It will again be played at Arundel FC.
Chi City Youth 3 Chi Colts 3
Chi Youth started this derby a much stronger team than in the teams’ last meeting and it wasn’t long before they broke through and scored.
The Colts battled back and won a corner. Harry Angell delivered a fine cross for Joe Middleton to head in the equaliser.
Early in the second half, Chi Youth pressed hard and scored two more to make it 3-1 and it looked like a defeat for the Colts.
But Middleton hit back with a goal from nowhere and Colts’ tails were up. Raith Locke hit the equaliser.
Colts pressed hard for the winner, but it did not come. In the end 3-3 was a fair result.
