London trip ends in captial punishment for Chichester ladies

There was a defeat in London for Chichester ladies' second string and a draw for Felpham's under-16 girls.

London Corinthians 4 Chichester Ladies Reserves 0

Chichester began the game with late changes to the starting line-up and a different formation to try to keep the ball in midfield better than in their opening league game.

A penalty conceded by woman of the match Abbie Garner allowed London Corinthians to take the lead on ten minutes. The team worked hard for every pass but were struggling for possession in the final third.

An injury to Lucie Challen meant a change in personnel and the game was fairly even. It was route one football for Corinthians when they hit a long ball and the pace of the striker was too much for the Chichester defence to make it 2-0 just before half-time.

Fitness problems and another injury forced more changes from the manager, but Chichester were trying to play good football.

London’s game plan worked twice more as a long ball and the striker’s pace meant the game ended 4-0 – a flattering scoreline.

Chichester are still learning and with new signings are working hard to find consistency. Next up they host Dartford this Sunday (2pm).

UNDER-16 GIRLS

Polegate 1 Felpham Tigers 1

Felpham travelled to Polegate in good heart and their confidence showed in a bright start in which Remi Crawley and Chloe Johnson were commanding in midfield.

Against a strong wind, Tigers dealt well with the home side’s attacks and Amy Bailey stunned the home side with a fine shot to give Tigers the lead. The defence looked strong, with Chloe Luff and Tanya Wake in goal in fine form.

With the wind at their backs in the second half Felpham were confident. They pressed for the second with Shannon Makey going close. However the home side started to get a hold on the game and Tigers conceded a soft penalty with ten minutes to go which was converted to ensure the points were shared.

FELPHAM: Wake, Merriman, Luff, Holmes, Makey, Kitchen, C Johnson, E Johnson, Bailey, Crawley, Martin. Subs: Haddock, Spencer.
