Midhurst's point is satisfactory against Seaford

Midhurst rounded off their Sussex League division-two season with an entertaining 1-1 draw against Seaford, a team looking to move into a promotion position.

Midhurst were rocked when Tom Morton netted after 15 minutes, but a linesman had indicated offside.

It was no surprise when Steve Dallaway put them ahead after 30 minutes. This brought a positive response from Midhurst and Liam Dreckman went close with a hard shot which keeper Shelden Levett only just scrambled clear.

The half-time talk pepped up Midhurst and their forwards and midfielders looked sharper.

Ben Crawford and Nic Taylor replaced Jamie O’Leary and Luke Sheldrick for Midhurst.

Midhurst drew level when Sean Dummer scored from close range.

Phil Churchill went close when he broke free of a defender and his shot went just wide.

Dreckman drove a firm shot against the post.

The game ended with a valuable point for Midhurst and the hope that next season may bring better fortunes.

Midhurst reserves finished bottom of reserve section west but went out with a bang at Rotherfield by beating Chichester reserves 4-2 – all four goals coming from Marcus Williams.
