New season holds promise for Chi City's female footballers

The new season is gettin under way for Chichester City's ladies and girls' teams '“ and it's the under-11s leading the way for early success.

The team – who will be under-12s for the 2016-17 season – played a tournament in Lewes and won!!

They finished third in the group stages and progressed to a semi-final in which they beat Crawley United on penalties to make the final with some outstanding goalkeeping by Tatum Anwyl.

In the final Emily Butler scored two goals and they defended as a unit and together won 2-0 against Mile Oak Youth to win the trophy.

They scored nine goals throughout the tournament (six for Emily Butler and three for Ellen Middleton) but conceded only two.

Squad: Tatum Anwyl, Izzy Walford (c), Ellen Middleton, Aimee Pollard, Emily Butler, Molly Stoddart, Anya Daley and Isobella Vagg.

Chichester’s development squad played away to Winchester Flyers, winning 7-1.

The City first team first pre-season game this Sunday at Oaklands Park versus Wimbledon (2pm).
