ROCKS REVIEW: Lewes cup date will see Rocks make changes

The Rocks are set to give key players a rest as their attentions to turn to the Sussex Senior Cup on Wednesday night.

They travel to Conference South side Lewes keen to make progress but also aware that promotion from Ryman one south is their priority.

It means Luke Nightingale and Jason Prior are in line for a night off, with Dean Maynard and Charlie Marshall possibly being given the chance of rare starts up front.

Midfielder James Fraser will also miss out - a knee injury sustained in the 2-1 win at Whitehawk on Saturday is still being assessed - and that will give Kane Wills a chance for a full 90 minutes.

Others pushing for starts include Matt Wood, Matt Whitehead and Saturday’s matchwinner Dan Royce.

The game may have come too soon for central defender Stuart Axten, who has been out with an ankle ligament injury since November and will be back in action soon.

Joint Rocks manager Jamie Howell said: “It’s a game we win to want but we have to be sensible and use the squad we have.

“We can’t have too many players never playing because when we need them, they won’t be match-sharp. This will be a useful opportunity to give one or two a run-out who haven’t been playing recently.”

The Rocks reached the final last year - in which they lost 4-0 to Brighton.

The winners of this tie will play Brighton, Arundel or Sidley.
