Now Horsham v Bognor is off - and it's all Storm Ciara's fault

The keenly anticipated Sussex derby between Isthmian premier promotion contenders Horsham and Bognor has been postponed - all because of Storm Ciara.

The game, at Horsham, was due to take place next Tuesday (Feb 18) but Bognor have now been forced to rearrange their Sussex Senior Cup quarter-final with Brighton under-23s for next Wednesday (Feb 19).

The cup tie - planned for tonight (Feb 11) - has been called off after Sunday's Storm Ciara gales caused damage to the covering over the terrace at the clubhouse end of Nyewood Lane.

Because county FA cups are deemed more important than league games - to the consternation of many - Bognor had to rearrange the tie at the earliest opportunity, and means their trip to The Camping World Community Stadium will now take place on Tuesday, March 10.

The league game, when it does happen, could be a vital one with both Horsham and Bognor in the mix for honours. The sides drew 1-1 at Nyewood Lane in the first week of the season.

Another fixture that's fallen foul of the weather is tonight's (Feb 11) visit of Chichester City to Haywards Heath in the Isthmian south east. The Heath pitch is waterlogged.
