After the manager read the riot act at half-time, Pagham responded well and went 6-2 up before the hour mark with Ayling, Rose and Simmonds scoring – the latter completing his hat-trick – as Adderton and Williams run the midfield. Ferring pulled two back very quickly but there was still time for Andy Chick to add to the Pagham scoreline and maintain their unbeaten record.

Barnham started brightly with a series of long balls out to the wings starting to push Selsey back. But they could not finish and the final ball often went out for a corner or goal-kick.

Selsey battled hard and started to take control with a series of runs on the Barnham goal. But for the efforts of the Barnham back four they could have been two up.

In the closing minutes of the half, a Selsey striker received the ball in the Barnham box, turned on a sixpence and struck a superb goal into the far corner.

The second half saw a reshuffle in the Barnham team and two minutes in it paid dividends when a great low cross from Pete Dearden from the corner flag saw Markie Gilbert make a great run into the box and volley home his second of the season.

Barnham began to play some flowing football but lacked the killer ball to open up the defence.
