THE leader of Portsmouth City Council believes the loan given by taxpayers to the trust helped to restore confidence in its bid to take over Pompey.
Gerald Vernon-Jackson said: ‘It was that vote of confidence that gave everyone else the confidence that they (the trust) would succeed,’ he said.
Talking about the trust’s court victory, Cllr Vernon-Jackson said: ‘It’s really great news.
‘It’s their (the fans) club now.
‘It gives a long-term future for the club and it means that other clubs owned by money men around the world can be owned by fans instead.
‘We will be a model for others.
‘The trust have a long term business plan.’
