DANNY EAST relived his injury nightmare as he targeted a season of full fitness.
The 22-year-old marked his comeback from an ankle injury with the winner against Northampton on Monday.
And East has revealed the extent of the problems which kept him on the sidelines for much of his first campaign at Pompey.
The former Hull man has had an extensive array of injuries ranging from a sickening neck injury, picked up against Wycombe in December, to a gash above his eye.
East left Monday’s game with a swollen eye after another bruising encounter.
Now he is looking for a consistent run next season after signing a two-year deal in the summer.
East said: ‘I’ve had five different injuries this season.
‘There has been my hip flexor, my hamstring, my neck, my ankle and I gashed my eye.
‘I’ve had a few like!
‘My last game was back in December and to be out for that long is frustrating.
‘So now I just want a run of games. To play for a whole season would be nice.
‘My career has been stop-start so far and I want that to change.’
East has occupied a variety of positions this season, playing at right-back, central midfield and on the right flank. Now he is looking to nail down a position he can call his own.
He said: ‘I just want a full season. A 40 or 50 game season would be great.
‘I want to establish myself in the team next season.
‘I want to be the main player in whatever position it is.
‘I want to be playing week-in, week-out.’
