Adam McGurk and Adam Barton are in the frame to make their Pompey debuts this weekend.
The pair yesterday trained on Bognor’s pitch ahead of tonight’s Nyewood Lane fixture (7.30pm).
McGurk (thigh) and Barton (groin) both sat out the opening pre-season friendly at the Hawks last weekend.
Now the duo are in the frame to feature in a period of two matches in two days for the Blues.
In addition to tonight’s match against Jamie Howell’s team, Pompey travel to Gosport tomorrow (3pm) for another fixture.
The schedule means Cook must juggle his squad to accommodate both games and ensure his players aren’t overused.
As a result, Pompey are expected to split their numbers for the matches, with triallists once more to be on show.
Striker Theo Robinson will again feature, while Ben Tollitt has now signed after impressing during his brief time at the club.
The involvement of Johnny Ertl and James Dunne over the weekend remains to be seen as their futures stay up in the air.
Ertl has continued to train with the Blues while he continues to hold talks with the club.
Dunne trained earlier in the week.
But he was absent when his partner gave birth to their daughter on Wednesday.
He was not among those who trained at Bognor yesterday.
Meanwhile, former Pompey keeper Darryl Flahavan is presently training with the club to keep fit.
The 36-year-old left Bournemouth this summer after four seasons.
