Nicky Shorey has penned a new 12-month deal with Pompey.

Blues boss Andy Awford has been eager to retain the services of the left-back whose initial short-term contract expired at the season’s end.

The 33-year-old impressed following his January arrival as a free agent, starting 21 of Pompey’s final 22 matches, primarily at left-back.

Those displays convinced Awford he wanted Shorey to remain as part of his squad and the former England man has now followed Danny Hollands in pledging his Fratton Park future.
