We are taking a trip down memory lane to bring you pictures from Pompey’s past.
The second in our series is one from Fiorentina’s visit to Fratton Park on December 22, 1993 in the Anglo-Italian Cup.
This was Pompey’s second adventure in the European competition having been involved in the previous season.
The game finished 3-2 to Fiorentina with Paul Hall and Tony Dobson getting the goals for the Blues.
Pompey took the lead in the 19th minute when Hall beat the Italian side’s offside trap to calmly round the keeper and walk the ball into the net.
However, Fiorentina fought back and took a 2-1 lead.
The Blues thought they had rescued the game when, with six minutes remaining, Dobson scrambled home an equaliser.
But Fiorentina managed to score a last-minute winner to win the game.
