Pompey will today kick-off training at their new Roko home.
The Blues’ under-18s will become the first to use the recently-constructed facilities in Copnor Road.
Academy boss Mark Kelly and under-18s manager Mikey Harris will oversee a session with the youngsters from 10.30am at the training ground.
It represents the latest landmark for Pompey as the eagerly-anticipated £1.1m project nears completion.
Andy Awford’s first-team are expected to move in during the middle of November once club offices at the Roko venue have been finished.
In addition, work on the Tifosy-funded Academy pitches is expected to start in March.
In the meantime, the Academy are trialling out other facilities, including the main pitches.
Kelly said: ‘This is what we have all waited for a long time and it will be fantastic getting out there.
‘The Academy lads are stepping in as guinea pigs, if you like, checking the pitches are fine and the showers work and hopefully it will be the next step to us having a home.
‘Looking at it now, the pitches are up to standard, the catering facilities are finished, the changing rooms are done, the groundsman’s equipment store is on its way to being completed and they are working hard to finish the fencing.
‘Work is still going on with the buildings, so it could be a month or so before everything is finished.
‘In the meantime, this is a chance for us to see everything functioning, trying out the facilities to discover whether they are working from that side.
‘It is really coming together. A lot of work has been carried out in a short space of time and we can’t wait to get out there.’
