Shortlisted for The Grand Hotel club of the year are Selsey FC, who have worked with Selsey Seals to move football participation in the area to a new level.

Between them, the clubs have worked hard to achieve the FA Charter Standard Community Club award. They have a combination of 19 adult and youth teams covering all age ranges and encompass a friednly attitude to the delivery of grassroots football.

Up for the young coach of the year award is Matthew Weller, who has undertaken voluntary work with Selsey Seals for the past three years helping the manager in coaching the under-nine mixed age group. In 2012 Weller completed the FA level-one coaching course and since then he has become more involved with using his experience at the course to help other age groups.

Weller is also shortlisted for the young volunteer of the year award. In addition to his work with Selsey, he has extended his volunteering contribution to the wider community as well as building on the coaching undertaken in the Selsey community. He supports the adult coaches with their teams and has made a significant difference with another young coach with the development of the under-13 girls’ football team.
