Sussex football clubs await news after Kent is given top lockdown ranking

With heavy restrictions on activities and travel for people in tier three areas, Kent's placing in this category has placed a question mark over aht the effect will be on grass-roots sport.

Kent has many teams in the premier and south east divisions of the Isthmian League, so the likes of Bognor, Horsham, Worthing, Lewes, Hastings, East Grinstead, Chichester City, Whitehawk, Burgess Hill, Three Bridges and Haywards Heath are all awaiting news of what travel - to and from Kent - will be allowed.

The whole of Sussex is in tier two in the new set-up which means teams can resume playing and training from next Wednesday.

Elite teams including Brighton, Crawley, Eastbourne Borough and Lewes Women carry on playing as they have been and will be allowed fans in their home stadiums.

Regarding what will happen with teams in tier three, the FA tweeted: "We note the Government’s further update today on the three-tiered system and continue our ongoing dialogue with Government to clarify the details and next steps, including travel between tiers. We will publish detailed guidance once we’ve clarified these details."

Lewes chairman Stuart Fuller confirmed his club were waiting to hear news of their men's side's planned trip to Folkestone.
