Chichester’s young guns secured the Sussex county east divisional championship with classy victories over Storrington and Forest.

A Rhys Watling hat-trick, along with two each from Forry and Perry and singles for Kilner and Manners made short work of Storrington.

Then in the next game, another Watling hat-trick in the first 45 minutes was added to by Forry to put Forest out of touch before the interval.

But while the title was claimed at the weekend, it was won in the previous fortnight when Chichester proved that on top of the talent, they had all the heart and determination that makes champions.

Stirring victories over Lancing and Sidlesham, playing much of one game with ten men and showing they can come from behind as well.

The trophy is just reward for Chichester, who have not dropped a point in the league since draws in their opening two matches of the campaign and have only lost once in 90 minutes in all competitions this season.

With two league fixtures remaining, Chichester will remain focused on remaining unbeaten in the league before travelling to Hassocks on May 1 to contend in the county play-off finals against the victors of Hastings, Eastbourne Borough or Peacehaven for the title of overall Sussex Champions.

Lavant Youth are top of the table with two games to go following a resounding win at Rustington.

They went ahead on 15 minutes when Chris Colwell finished off a four-man move. Mwenya Chisanga was troubling the Rustington defence with his pace and strength.

The Lavant back four stood firm and Jamie White in goal was rarely troubled. When he was, his handling was impeccable.

The second half was different. Man-of-the-match Reece Hanson and Louis Cook-Jones took control of the middle and Lavant began to run the game.

Just five minutes in, Colwell broke the offside trap to fire in his second. A couple of minutes later Colwell had a chance to complete his hat-trick. But with just the goalkeeper to beat, he unexpectedly pulled up with a hamstring injury.

Callum Young replaced him and made his mark two minutes later, outstripping the defence and firing in a left-foot shot to make it 3-0.

Ryan Parfoot was causing mayhem with his dazzling dribbling skills and more goals followed, first from Mwenya Chisanga following a neat exchange with Lewis Finch, then Chris Webb weighed in with a well-deserved strike. This gives Lavant a good chance to win the league.
