Trip to Hampshire kicks off Chichester's pre-season programme

Miles Rutherford is set to put his Chichester City squad through a testing series of friendlies ahead of the club's bid for Southern Combination League glory.

The former Moneyfields manager, about to embark on his first full season in charge at Oaklands Park, has lined up a hectic schedule for his players ahead of a campaign in which hew wants them challening for a top-four spot in the premier division.

A trip to Andover on Saturday kicks off City’s programme with an unusually-early kick-off time of 11am.

Their first home game at Oaklands Park comes next Tuesday, July 12, with Salisbury City visiting (7.30pm), then they go to Bisley in Surrey to play Guildford City on Thursday 14 (7.30pm).

Monday, July 18, brings a big home clash with Bognor (7.30pm), while Saturday 23 sees them cross the Solent to face Newport IOW (3pm).

On Tuesday, July 26, City host Petersfield Reserves (7.30pm) and on Saturday 30 they play Christchurch (3pm).

Our other local Southern Combination premier side, Pagham, begin their 2016-17 build-up with a visit to Newport IOW on Saturday. The first of two games kicks off at 12.30pm.

Meanwhile, first-division Selsey have announced their pre-season programme.

They will visit Wick on Saturday, July 16, then host Sidlesham on Saturday 23.

Tuesday, July 26 sees Nyetimber Pirates visit Selsey’s Bunn Leisure Ground before the Blues take their first and reserve teams to Wittering for a double header on Saturday, July 30.
