Victory over Enfield makes it a six-point week for Rocks

Goals from Stuart Green and James Crane in the first half were enough to clinch the points.

Bognor were in trouble straight from kick-off as Enfield’s Liam Hope was sent through on goal. He went past his marker and fired a low shot, however, Chris Winterton was equal to the effort.

Hope then had a second bite at the shot and Harvey Whyte had to clear the shot off the line.

Almost against the run of play, clinical finishing saw the Rocks take the lead when Green latched on to the end off a deep cross and his looping header dropped into the net.

The visitors went close when Mark Kirby headed the ball into the ground, bouncing inches over the crossbar.

A mishap in midfield allowed Doug Tuck to pounce as he spotted keeper Nathan McDonald off his line but is ambitious shot was high and wide.

Enfield were getting into Bognor’s area far too easily, with Hope causing problems for the Rocks.

And the threatening visitors were deservedly level when Tony Burke’s free-kick from long range dipped in front of Winterton and the bounce took the ball into the goal.

It didn’t take the Rocks long to regain the lead when Crane made up for Bognor’s defensive lapse, thundering in a header from Ollie Pearce’s cross.

Enfield’s best chance of the second period came on 69 minutes when Hope tried his luck with a curling free-kick, though Winterton was at full stretch to parry.

Bognor had the ball in the net again ten minutes from time when Alex Parsons thought the referee had played an advantage and ran through to score, but was puzzled to see the game back for the free-kick.

The Rocks then withstood late pressure from the visitors to hold on to a deserved victory that lifts them to eighth place.

They’ve no game on Boxing Day but travel to Lewes on Saturday.
