Footgolf is available on the academy course after 1pm seven days a week – a picturesque tree-lined course in a rural setting. The fee for nine holes is £9 for adults and £6 for under-16s with a group price of £30 for four adults or a family price of £25.

Chichester will be staging monthly official UK footgolf ranking events and will be available for groups and outings.

Sally Haygarth, CGC owner, said: “We are delighted to have launched footgolf at Chichester and to be the first club in West Sussex to offer it.

“We have seen from our sister club, Horton Park in Epsom, the popularity of the game and know this is a great new way to get people interested in the game of golf.

“The launch of our footgolf course will encourage many more people through our door to enjoy this exciting new game and to enable us to introduce them to the game of golf.”

Mike O’Connor, UK FootGolf president said: “We are delighted to further enhance our relationship with Maple Leaf Golf with the introduction of another footgolf facility in Chichester.

“This year will witness rapid growth and Chichester and Sussex is an important county for our development and working with Maple Leaf Golf on this project will enable us to introduce FootGolf to thousands more over the coming years.”

FootGolf is now played in nearly 30 countries around the world, with the first tournaments played in 2009, having been introduced

to the UK in 2012.

The sport is played on a traditional golf course and is proving to be a very addictive sport that combines the best of popular sports like

football with an elite sport like golf. The idea is to combine power and precision to achieve the goal of getting the ball to the hole in fewest number of shots.

The UK’s first footgolf tournament was held at Sewerby Hall and Gardens near Bridlington in 2012.
