Youth football: Dynamos run out of power against City

It's the under-13 age group in focus in our latest youth football round-up with a fine win for Chi City Colts and a first win for Aldwick Athletic since their name change from Avisford in the summer.

UNDER-13

Worthing Dynamos Youth 2 Chichester City Colts 8

Chichester started strongly with most of the possession, giving goalkeeper Josh McCulloch very little to do. It took Harry Angell ten minutes to break the deadlock.

MoM Ben Roberts fired some superb crosses into the box and new signing Ashley Gillet, his first game, flicked in the second.

After many attempts over the bar from Jack Kennedy and Roberts, Kennedy pulled off a masterpiece of a goal from an acute angle.

Worthing came out for the second half firing on all cylinders and broke through the steadfast Colts defence and scored. They had a few more attempts on goal, but these were saved by Josh McCulloch.

With the score at 4 -2, the Colts took back possession and were able to score a further four goals by Teddy Phillippo, George Purvis, Angell and Arthur Freshwater, his first goal for the team.

Jacob Taylor, playing his first game for the team, had a great game in defence alongside Joe Broad, who gave another strong performance.

The win eased the Colts up to third in the league.

Aldwick Athletic 2 Lancing 1

At the fourth time of asking this season, Aldwick finally got their first competitive win in a hard-fought contest against a spirited Lancing side.

Damian Mizgier, Stephen Anthony and Oliver Berry came into the Aldwick side but Lancing got off to the better start without really threatening the Aldwick goal.

The home side got into their stride and began to take control.

Twenty minutes in Charlie Hunter was fouled inside the area after getting his shot away. Hunter stepped up to take the spot-kick himself, but last season’s top scorer for this team last season, when they were Avisford under-12s, slammed his shot against the bar.

A couple of minutes later, Aldwick did take the lead as Fin Brian’s strike from outside the area took a wicked deflection.

Lancing began the second half well and were level when Joseph Redgrave headed in from a close-range free kick.

The away side nearly took the lead when a long kick from thekeeper was missed by two Aldwick defenders, but Klaudiusz Piasecki made a fantastic close-range save from the Lancing striker.

That proved a turning point and 13 minutes from time Aldwick regained the lead when Mizgier scrambled home from close range for his first goal for the club.

Athletic saw the game out for their first competitive win since taking on their new identity.

Aldwick: Piasecki, S Anthony, Nowak, Longley, Berry, James, Jones, Copeland, Brian, Mizgier, D Anthony. Subs: Hall, Hunter, Wasowski.
