Youth football: No Sanctuary for Seals as Predators go on prowl

There are victories to report for Predators Youth, Chichester City, Midhurst & Easebourne in this week's youth football round-up.

UNDER-13

Predators Youth 8 Selsey Seals Red 1

Predators got their season going with this convincing win.

Tommy Sanctuary and Alex Burford at the heart of the defence snuffed out any threat, while Selsey had no answer to the pace of the Predators forwards.

Chances went begging until two goals in quick succession from Ashley Butler got the ball rolling, then further pressure allowed Jordan Smith to score twice more before half-time.

The first half was very even with few chances for either team.

Dynamos were passing the ball around nicely but City took the lead with a neat through-ball for Zac Moy to run on to and poke home.

Moy doubled the lead with a well-worked solo effort, cutting through the defence to slot past the keeper.

Dynamos got one back before the break, Joe Patching cutting in from the wing to shoot across the keeper.

After the break, Dynamos failed to trouble Dan Macdonald in goal and a great solo run by James Amos ended with him placing it past the keeper.

His second was a header from a corner delivered by Patric Turner and man of the match Moy got two more before Collins Alfred nodded in from another great cross by Turner.

CHICHESTER: Macdonald, Hutchings, East, Amos, Frampton, Scutt, Shaw, Alfred, Dry, Turner, Moy, Jessop.

Pagham 2 Midhurst & Easebourne 5

Midhurst opened the scoring with two goals in the first ten minutes, the second a great header from Will Murphy following a good run and pass from Sam Cain. They continued to dominate but were unable to score again despite several chances.

Against the run of play Pagham scored right on half-time.

Pagham came out looking the stronger team in the second half but Midhurst’s top scorer from last season, Jake Burtoo, was determined to continue where he left off last season, scoring a hat-trick in the second half.

Pagham scored a second late on.

Worthing Utd 1 Pagham Colts 1

Pagham put in a very poor performance and can count themselves fortunate to come away with a draw.

For the majority of the game they were second best.

The home side took the lead after only five minutes and by half-time could have been three up, having also hit the bar and post with chances.

The second half saw Pagham with plenty of possession without really hurting Worthing.

Midway through the half they were given a lucky break.

The referee awarded them a penalty following a linesman’s decision.

Ryan Barratt converted it to give them what in truth was an undeserved point.

They’ll look to perform better next week.

PAGHAM: Tribe, Gonzalez, Shea, Carter, Charles, Haines, Barratt, Marland, Parham, Stevens, Williams, Watson.
