Goodwood May Festival day three: Turner on the mark again

A third Goodwood win of the season for racecourse ambassador Hayley Turner and doubles for rider Joe Fanning and Sussex trainer Amanda Perrett were the highlights of the final day of Goodwood's May Festival.

Better weather brought out a much bigger crowd and they were treated to some excellent flat racing.

Turner scored on 8/1 runner You Da One for trainer Andrew Balding in the televised 32Red Handicap, making it three race victories for the new face of Goodwood in just two visits so far this season.

Another jockey to follow on the Downs is Fanning, who gave Mark Johnston his second festival success in two days on board Lanark (9/4 fav) in the EBF Brighton & Hove Albion Maiden Stakes, and took the Federation Of Bloodstock Agents Maiden Fillies’ Stakes on 5/2 chance Saucy Minx for Pulborough-based Perrett.

You Da One and Lanark were both picked out by Turner on this website before racing.

Perrett, meanwhile, also has three Goodwood successes to her name after the Allans Of Petworth Handicap was taken by Andrea Atenzi on 7/2 favourite Arch Villain.

The card started with a surprise win for 25/1-er Rewarded in the Listed 32Red Festival Stakes, ridden by Kirsty Milczarek for James Toller.

The Jersey Racing Club Handicap was won by the Brian Ellison-trained Mon Brav (11/2), ridden by Martin Lane.

The next meeting at Goodwood is on Friday (May 31) evening.
