Hannon and Marquand are in the Goodwood groove

The son of Acclamation had already won this season at Chelmsford and Newmarket, and he made it three from three when going on to win by a comfortable half a length, picking up £64,690 in the process for delighted owners, Team Wallop.

The in-form Hannon/Marquand duo later teamed up for the third time this week at Goodwood when Out Of The Dark broke his maiden at the second time of asking, in the last race of the week, the Al Basti Equiworld EBF Stallions Maiden Fillies´ Stakes.

On his first appearance of the season, Mount Logan held off Sweeping Up in determined fashion to win the Listed Intrinsic New for 2016 at Hedgeholme Stud Tapster Stakes for trainer Roger Varian.

Mount Logan clearly loves the course and conditions, as he won the opening race of the Qatar Goodwood Festival in 2015. Trainer Roger Varian has big plans for this son of New Approach and after the race, Varian nominated the Hardwicke Stakes at Royal Ascot as his next target.

“He battled well, he’s very genuine and he stays the trip (1m 4f) well. I think he’ll come on for the run and we’ll probably go to the Hardwicke Stakes for his next start,” Varian said.

In the opening race of the day, it was an ex-Varian horse that stole the show as Decorated Knight quickened best of all, off a sedate early gallop to win the Listed Al Basti Equiworld Festival Stakes on only his second start for his new trainer, Roger Charlton.

Owned and bred by Saleh Al Homaizi and Imad Al Sagar, this regally bred son of Galileo has some fancy entries at Royal Ascot this summer, including the Queen Anne Stakes and the Prince of Wales’s Stakes, with assistant trainer, Tom Charlton believing that the horse “has the tactical speed for a mile.”

He was trimmed to 25/1 for the Prince of Wales’s Stakes and remains a 50/1 shot for the Queen Anne Stakes.

In all there were three winners on Saturday for horses tipped on this website on the morning of racing.
