The Winton Cup is a long-standing, three-weapon fencing competition, where all of Britain’s regions are represented by teams chosen for their outstanding performances throughout the year.

To be selected is consequently one of the most important landmarks in a fencer’s career and highly prized.

Evans is well-deserving of this tribute to her ability and dedication as while she is quite new to the sport, having started in middle-age, she has progressed with lightning speed to become one of the south-east’s top epeeists.

This was proven when she played a crucial role in wresting the title of Winton Cup champions from the all-conquering south-west, champions for very many years previously.

It was a wonderful victory for the south-east and especially for Evans, an inspiration to everyone to take up new challenges.
