NEW equipment is on its way to Chichester Priory Park thanks to a £2,000 donation by the Lord’s Taverners.
Representatives of the fundraising group visited the club to hand over a cheque which will transform the club’s training.
They are using the money for new training kit and a bowling machine which will help ensure the cricketing stars of the future fulfil their potential.
The Lord’s Taverners, the UK’s leading youth cricket and disability sports charity, will donate more than £3m this year to help youngsters get a sporting chance.
Chichester Priory Park, one of the oldest clubs in Sussex, have a hugely-active colts section with 210 youngsters registered at present - including 50 girls.
Matches are played throughout the summer and involve teams ranging from under-nines to under-16s.
Club chairman Graeme Bennison said: “We’re delighted by the donation from the Lord’s Taverners. It will make a real difference to the opportunities we are able to offer our youngsters.”
