BOGNOR’S Jordan Cane is making the world of motorsport sit up and take note at the tender age of 14.

And this weekend he goes back to where it all began – the Goodwood Festival of Speed.

Earlier this month, Cane became the youngest professional racing driver in the world in single-seater classes when he took part in his first race at Virginia International Raceway in the United States, racing in the National F1600 series.

It was a steep learning curve but despite being put off track several times he managed to secure two top-ten finishes.

In addition, he showed his potential by overtaking more cars on track than any other driver and topped the timesheets in official practice. His next race is in Mid Ohio on July 3.

Cane, who goes to Felpham Community College, races in the USA because of his age – he would not be allowed to compete at the same level here.

His car is a F1600 open wheel racing car capable of speeds up to 140mph and his ambition is to be an F1 or Indycar driver. His talents have not gone unnoticed and is already on the development programme of one of the leading F1 teams.

Cane is already making his plans for next year where he hopes to be racing both in the USA and back here in Europe.
