Midhurst are all Gee-d up for a big victory

Midhurst welcomed Crawley to the Ruins for their first home game of the season and built on their solid start with a thumping victory.

Midhurst had a powerful pack led by captain Danny Gee and a back line full of pace.

The hosts started well, with the forwards securing good ball for the backs to use, and Charlie TB, Sam Ford and Ed Mitchell all ran in tries.

Crawley finally got into the game and some ill discipline by Midhurst gave them a penalty in front of the posts which the No10 had no problem slotting over.

But Midhurst got back to their running game with another backs move finished off by Chris West.

Johnny Goldsmith, whose place-kicking and kicking from the hand was spot-on, finished the half with a penalty to give them a 27-3 half time lead.

Midhurst carried on from where they left off in the second half, Goldsmith pinning Crawley back with his kicking.

They ran in four more tries, Andy Morrison and Sam Ruston with one each, and man of the match Fraser Morrison with two.

The game finished on a sour note, with Mark Chandler harshly given a red card and a Crawley player going down with a nasty ankle injury which cut the game short by five minutes.
