Midhurst motor-racer has mixed fortunes at Snetterton

Snetterton's new 300 layout hosted round three of the Avon Tyres British GT Championship involving Midhurst racer Dan Denis.

He teamed up with David McDonald in the GT4 category in a Ginetta G50 run by the Scuderia Vittoria squad.

This is Denis’ first season in the GT Championship after moving up from the Ginetta G50 Championship which he competed in during 2010.

They managed to qualify the Ginetta 23rd and fourth in class on the grid in a time of 2min 01sec, averaging 88mph.

A shower before the two-hour race ensured a slippery circuit.

Denis got a good start and was soon making progress until, on lap nine, one of the Porsche’s had a suspected rear puncture and impacted with another which caused the safety car to emerge whilst the incident was cleared up. The race eventually resumed on lap 19.

Unfortunately for Denis on lap 18 he had a collision with another car at Agostini which damaged his car enough to force it into retirement.

The pair are back in action at Brands Hatch on June 19, hoping for valuable points. They lie 11th with 18 points.
