It’s day four of 14 in our look back at local sport highlights of 2014 – and this time it’s a great day for golfers that we recall in the video above.
It’s not every day one of the world’s top golfers drops by with some tips. So it was no surprise players and fans of all ages flocked to the first tee at Goodwood’s Downs course when 2013 US Open champion Justin Rose visited in May.
Rose is ambassador to Golf At Goodwood and has built up close links with the club. It was clear to see the high regard he is held in when a large crowd of invited guests watched him lead a coaching clinic on the first tee of the Downs course.
He watched as members of Goodwood’s junior academy like Marco Penge and Midhurst’s Harry Callow, just eight, played some shots.
Rose exchanged sporting tales with Olympic gold medal-winning sailor Sarah Ayton – who also works with Golf at Goodwood – and answered questions from Goodwood coach and PGA pro Ryan Fenwick and members of the crowd.
