Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted a 12-and-under yellow matchplay tournament.
This boys’ singles tournament was staged on the club’s three indoor dome courts.
The competition was run using a compass draw format of eight players, each match comprising the best of three short sets to four games, with a match tie-break to ten points as the deciding set if required.
Third place and a bronze medal went to Sam Ellison from Southsea, who beat George Manley from Hindhead 4-2, 5-3. Julian Standish of Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club was runner-up and collected the silver medal, with the gold going to Luca Pavan from Chatham.
In the final Pavan came back from 3-0 and 40-0 down to defeat Sandish 5-4 (7-1), 5-3 to complete a memorable fightback.
Tournament organiser and referee Peter Cook said: “Once again the temperature was very cold and huge credit must go to all the players who didn’t complain and still produced some really exciting tennis.”
