Chichester Runners & AC young athlete Alyssa White competed at national level for the first time at the England Athletics Indoor Age Group Championships at the English Institute of Sport in Sheffield

Experience cannot be coached or bought - and White, a first-year under-15, retuned from Sheffield with experience in abundance, whether it was going through the various call room procedures, or on the start line during the athlete introductions and hearing the announcer say the girl in the next lane to your right is the fastest in the UK this year.

Competing in the under-15 60m, White, maybe a little nervous but very confident, acquitted herself very well indeed, finishing seventh in 8.43sec, just 0.05 off her personal best – but this was more about a valuable performance, rather than the overall result.

She now looks to the 2014 outdoor season.
