BOGNOR Boxing Club members have been busy in the ring.

They went to Margate for a bout involving John Brasil and later had two boxers - Charlie Mason and Callam Ide - in action in an Ockley BC show at Pagham.

In Kent, Brasil was up against Chris Dunne of Stroud ABC.

The first round saw a hesitant start by both boxers, after which they started to try to out-jab each other - but Brasil’s quicker hands just edged him the round.

It was much of the same in rounds two and three with Brasil’s combination punching earning him a unanimous decision over the taller, heavier Kent boxer.

At Pagham, Mason took on Frazier Colwell from Fareham ABC and an entertaining bout saw Mason win a unanimous decision.

Both boys boxed aggressively in an action-packed bout which had the crowd on their feet in the last round, but Mason’s busier style earned him the victory over the taller boy.

Ide faced Daryl Simpkins of Ventor ABC. A lesson in superior boxing skills from Ide gave the crowd an enteraining three rounds.

From the first round, Ide kept Simpkins at bay, catching him with hard-hitting jabs each time he tried to come forward.

Ide’s flurry of classy combinations and fluid movement around the ring left Simpkins lunging to get his shots in. Simpkins tired in the third and Callam continued picking him off to win a comfortable unanimous decision. The crowd gave him a standing ovation.
