THE Kyushin Ryu Ju-jitsu West club are celebrating some notable successes by members.
Sensei Sid Martin runs the club and holds training on Mondays at St Wilfrid’s Church Hall in Bognor and Fridays at Wick Community Hall, Littlehampton.
Gradings were held at the Littlehampton venue for both clubs, carried out by the senior grading officer for Kyushin Ryu, Sensei Roger Wilkes (8th dan), assisted by Sensei Diane Monk (3rd dan).
Sensei Mark Simpson (4th dan) came to teach some ground fighting techniques to the students waiting to grade
All the candidates put forward for grading passed and were awarded the appropriate belts.
Martin said: “I would like to thank both Sensei Wilkes and Sensei Monk for travelling from Rochester in Kent to grade the students, and I’d like to thank all my students for all the hard work they put into their training and congratulate them on achieving their next belts.”
Junior students who gained their new belts were Otto Hancock, Holly Mills, Callum Clarke, Jack Turner, Michael Wright, Brook Branigan, Dan Poulton, Teddy Varndall, Brodie Lock (all yellow belt); Aaron Banks (orange belt); Charlie Scott-Reid, Isaac Rishman, Cloe Rempel, Richard Rempel (green/white belt); Sam Poulton, Josh Carter, Tristan Jones, Jamie Holmes (blue/white belt); Anya Degennaro (brown/white belt).
Two seniors - Jon Marshall and Sean Lock - gained yellow belts.
