Seaford College’s prep-school netball team beat off competition from 16 rivals to win the West Sussex West netball tournament. They were undefeated in each of their seven pool matches with highlights a 10-1 win versus Felpham and an 11-0 victory against Westergate. They won 3-1 versus Midhurst Rother in the final.
Lauren Bryant, Seaford’s netball coach, said: “The prep school netball is finally coming together through the hard work of the girls and coaches alike.
“The first team have had a fantastic season, losing only one game, and winning this tournament topped off the season.
“The girls have worked extremely hard in training and are now playing some advanced netball. Ellie Holt, the captain, scored multiple goals during the tournament and was consistent.
“Some lovely defensive work from the likes of Loulou Robson, Frankie Richardson and Zoe Lunt meant the girls achieved numerous turnovers against the opposing team.
“It was a great achievement for the girls to compete with much larger schools than ours - we are very proud of what they have achieved.”
Players Megan Bennett and Sophie Wall said they worked as a team and stayed strong, and it was great to remain undefeated.
Skipper Holt said: “It was great to captain the winning team of the tournament - everybody played very well.”
They also beat Chichester High School for Girls 5-0, Bishop Luffa 7-0, Bourne 6-4, Midhurst Rother 2-0 and drew 2-2 with St Phillip Howard.
