Sussex equestrian star Gemma Tattersall was pleased after scoring 140.80 in the showjumping event today the the Olympics.
She said: “I’m so pleased with that. She came out really well this morning and she jumped a beautifully clear round. She really tried and I am really happy with her.
“I didn’t realise the time was so tight. I thought I was quite quick everywhere but clearly not! It was okay in the end though.
“It is amazing to be here at the Olympics, I am very proud and honoured. Obviously yesterday was far from ideal and we are all devastated as a team. We all tried our absolute best. We were all unbelievably hungry to win a medal and things just did not go our way. Everything we touched seemed to go wrong and it wasn’t even like the horses went badly. They all went well and it was just the odd silly mistake which we are all devastated about.
“I am just happy that I came out today and jumped a good clear round and we are very grateful that our horses are all in one piece and we are all in one piece. We will have to come back and try and win a medal next time.”
