Chichester Racquets & Fitness Club hosted the Chichester Junior Squash Open, featuring the under-13 boys, under-13 girls and under-15 boys’ events.

There were 34 matches played over the weekend and the boys’ under-13 final, in which Tom Walsh defeated Adam Corcoran, was certainly the match of the weekend.

The girls’ under-13 event featured a round-robin format because of an unfortunate lack of entries.

The girls, however, still showed a great willingness to impress. The overall winner was the very talented Jasmine Hutton, while the runner-up was Lilly Pinggera.

The last match of the weekend was the boys’ under-15 final, in which Mike Pinggera faced Anthony Rogal in a feisty affair.

Rogal showed class but Pinggera was precise and eventually overpowered his opponent to win.

Tournament organiser Jack Lerwill was full of praise for the competitors.

He said: “We watched some fantastic squash matches.

“There was a great atmosphere with some fantastic support from the spectators as well.”
