Chichester Racquets and Fitness Club’s nine-and-under orange team have won every match this summer, making them champions of division one of the Sussex League.
The win was all the more special as they lost not one rubber in any of their matches – they played 40... and won 40.
The squad, comprising Thomas Bisatt, James Pollard, Toby Toft, Lucas Hutton and Zachary Gawin, beat The Holbrook Club, Horsham LTC, Bognor LTC and Middleton Sports Club on their way to resounding victory.
Only two sets were dropped on the way, so it was won 80 lost two in sets.
Team captain and head coach of the Chichester Tennis Academy Justin Pollard said, “There were some really good singles and doubles matches and all the players showed great determination in winning the league in such a comfortable fashion.
“This group of players had previously won their league as an eight-and-under mini red team and will now need to build on this success as they step up to ten-and-under mini green level and play their matches on a full-size court.”
