Brian Meehan appears to have sidestepped a Sussex Stakes clash with Frankel for Most Improved.
The trainer has confirmed the Prix Jacques le Marois as the intended target for the Royal Ascot winner.
The son of Lawman bounced back from an early-season setback and a luckless run in the French Derby to win the St James’ Palace Stakes.
Meehan had been deliberating between a trip to Deauville on August 12 or a clash with Frankel in the Sussex Stakes at Goodwood on August 1.
He told www.brianmeehan.com: “The Deauville race fits perfectly for him. We are looking forward to testing Most Improved against his elders and the top European fillies.”
Seventeen runners remain in the frame for the Qipco Sussex Stakes.
