It’s set to be the 32 year-old’s biggest battle yet, streaming via UFC fight pass to martial arts fans all over the world.

The digital subscription service gives fight fanatics access to matches, interviews and behind the scenes extras from a wide variety of promotions, including the UFC itself, which means Mr Kilvington could be slugging it out in front of a potentially global audience.

Mr Kilvington, who comes into this fight with two first-round submission wins, says he looks forward to fighting on such a big stage: “He’s a good opponent,” he said “but, ultimately, I think I can beat him. And being on such a big platform means I have to grab the opportunity with both hands.”

“I’ve watched footage of the opponent, so I know his style. My coaches have studied him too and we’ve seen holes in his game. We’ve put together a plan which should work really well.”

The flyweight fighter usually trains at Mad Hatters Asylum in Chichester, which closed during lockdown. With his local gym off-limits, Mr Kilvington had to get creative to stay in shape.

“I’m able to train in a couple of places because I’ve got elite status as an athlete. It’s not ideal because my local gym is shut, but I’m able to travel and I’m able to train.”

“I’ve also got a couple of teammates who are also considered elite athletes and we train in a little garage that we kitted out together.”

Mr Kilvington’s training might have been different than usual, but he doesn’t feel any less prepared for this weekend’s fight, even though he accepted it on incredibly short notice.

“I’m ready.” He said I’m always in shape, I’m always in training. I don’t take my foot off the gas pedal, so it doesn’t matter too much.

“It doesn’t matter that it’s on short notice. I’d perform a little better if I had a full camp, but it won’t change the outcome.”
