The feature race of the contest is the Listed £30,000 Foundation Stakes (2.55pm) in which eight runners go to post for the 10-furlong event.

The exciting Bullfinch is regally-bred with his mother Thistle Bird being a Group One winner. The three-year-old has looked a serious prospect in two starts this year having won with ease over a mile at Kempton on both occasions. He returns to turf for the first time since finishing ninth on his debut and whilst he clearly has to prove he is as effective on this surface, he sets a good standard on his efforts this term.

High End returned from almost three years off the track to finish an excellent second at Sandown under Oisin Murphy and looks a major player if overcoming the potential bounce factor.

Oriental Mystique looks the class angle in the race having finished a good second in a Group Two event at Longchamp in July. The daughter of Kingman was a well-beaten last of eight in a Group Three at Deauville last time out in which she may have found the ground too testing. She is respected back in calmer waters here.

Mythical Magic has not been in the same form as when she finished in a brace of Group Twos in Meydan. She was well-beaten by St Leger hero Logician on his return to action at Doncaster in September, but needs to improve again here.

Anna Nerium has a good record at Goodwood having won the Supreme Stakes in 2018 and finishing a fine second in the Conqueror Fillies’ Stakes in 2019. She has to improve having struggled so far this season, but clearly retains her talent.

Thundering Blue is trained by Pulborough handler David Menuisier and boasts plenty of smart form in his back catalogue. He was well-beaten on his return to action at Deauville last time out and looks best watched here.

Desert Icon, who was well-beaten in two events at York and Chester, along with Air Pilot, winner of this race in 2019, complete the eight runners.

Only three runners line-up for the £20,000 Fillies’ Handicap at 3.30pm with Makawee able to shoulder top-weight. She was a good fifth in a Group Two event at Doncaster last time out and whilst she is on a long losing run, she looks more than capable of making her presence felt in this small runner field.

Tribal Craft needs to take a big step forward having disappointed in this grade at Haydock last time out, whilst recent Chester second Vindolanda demands a career best.

The £20,000 mile handicap at 1.50pm boasts six runners in which Plantadream looks to continue the winning thread having scored by a neck last time out at Ascot under today’s partner Jamie Spencer. Dawaam was fifth in handicap company at Kempton last time out, but looks sure to improve along with Hortzadar who scored at Ripon on his latest start.

Willie John needs to take a step forward having proved disappointing during his career. However, his best efforts of late have come at Goodwood having finished second in Listed company at the track in May 2019 and fourth in a competitive handicap at Glorious Goodwood earlier this summer.

After Wednesday's meeting, only the season finale on October 11 remains before this strange season comes to an end at Goodwood.
