Heading to Arundel Castle: MCC, Sir Paul Getty's XI - and Matt Prior

They will host several ECB events including the County 2nd XI T20 Finals day. The Southern Vipers will play twofixtures and the ground will also host the major Services cricket event; the Men’s Inter -Services T20.

The Duke of Norfolk’s XI will again play traditional favourites such as the MCC, UKAFCA (Combined Services), Sir Paul Getty’s XI and I Zingari. They will also play host to CTC Flamingos from the Netherlands and a former Sussex CCC XI will take on a Sussex League XI in August.

On top of this the Castle ground will host no fewer than four National Finals including the prestigious Cricketer Cup Final and the ECB National Disability Final.

Regarding, county cricket - as reported last week - all parties agreed that the current circumstances make it impossible to host out ground cricket this summer and Sussex look forward to returning to Arundel in 2022 when the landscape will be much clearer.

The Club has recently appointed James Askew as senior groundsperson, and preparation work is very much under way with the ground all set for its first fixture on April 29.

The ground is hosting a sportsman’s lunch on Sunday, July 18 where former Sussex and England Cricketer Matt Prior is guest speaker. Indeed, Castle Cricket officials confirmed that this event has already sold out.

Chief Operating Officer - James Rufey was very positive about the forthcoming season: "Whilst we are disappointed that we will not see Sussex at Arundel Castle this season, we fully understand and respect the decision to host all cricket at Hove and look forward to welcoming them back to Arundel again in 2022. We are still set for the most wonderful diet of fixtures and events here at Arundel Castle. There is something for everyone and when Government restrictions allow, we look forward to many marvellous days of cricket at our wonderful Ground.”
