Perfect pairings make it a treble top night for league

THE busiest night for Tuesday Night Double-in League pairs knockouts in years flew by and saw some great darts.

Both divisions were played up to the semi-finals, with finals night planned at the end of the season.

The division-two contest comprised 21 pairs. The early rounds saw lots of missed ton-plus out shots, and a few games where teams played their own team-mates.

In the first semi-final were Dave Juniper and Mick Hales from The Claremont taking on Chi Snooker B’s Pat O’Hara and Cliff Prior. After some close darts for doubles O’Hara and Prior sneaked past their opponents.

The second semi saw The Claremont’s Gary Blackwood and Micky Rowland take on Chi Snooker A’s Adi Linfield and Connor Durham from the Bognor Legion.

Although Durham plays in division two, he had to move up to division one as he was partnering Linfield, but that didn’t stop him helping his partner to take the game.

In division two 13 pairs took part. Again the draw left some players had to play against team-mates.

The first semi-final was between Paul Duckett and Vince Goddings from Richmond A, and the Cabin’s Ricky Clark and Alex Norgett. Clark and Norgett had just a little too much luck and took the win.

The second semi-final was between Debbie and Ashley Clements from the Old Barn and Andy Whiteley and Dave Cox from Chi Snooker C. The husband-and-wife pairing didn’t have enough to beat Whiteley and Cox.

With just one week left to play, despite the amount of matches outstanding, the top two positions in all three divisions are almost conclusive.

In division one, POW Z took top spot after playing two matches to catch up on a cancelled fixture. They took 27 points to go 14 clear.

In division two, with the Claremont out of action, the Royal Oak produced a good win to keep their sights on second place.

Division three saw Chi Snooker A keep their title hopes alive with a good win over third-placed Newtown. They still have a game in hand on the league leaders.

Midhurst 3s League

Organisers are still looking for more teams in Midhurst and surrounding areas to play in a league on Mondays or Tuesdays, commencing in April.

Details will be sent to all venues within the next week or two. If you wish to get details earlier email [email protected]

The league will be based on three-a-side playing a round robin format - meaning plenty of darts, with cash prizes throughout each division.
