An eight-year-old from The Prebendal School in Chichester got the chance to pose for photos with the Sussex cricket squad.
Phoenix Ashworth from Arundel took part in the official photograph of the county players at Hove alongside the Sussex youth development squads.
The youngster, who has a poster on his bedroom wall that says ‘Eat, Sleep, Cricket’, trains at the Hove ground every Sunday at county level and has also enjoyed winter training with Western Warriors. He also leads from the front at school and captains the under-nine Prebendal team.
His mother Lucy said: “It was a very special day at Hove with the children watching Sussex take on Worcestershire. Although Sussex lost, it was an extremely exciting game with a century and we also took home a bat full of players’ signatures!
“Phoenix is so committed to his cricket training and he is so keen to simply share his passion for the game with everyone.”
